MCP identifiers

A Domain Control Program controls all of my domains and the MCP instances supporting them. In general MCP identifiers are UUIDs, however the core domain space MCPs have identifiers which are short mnemonics. The DEV MCP in my LAN, hosts the first instance of DCP. The STG MCP hosts the domains CMS, the public continuous delivery target for original function subsequently deployed to downstream MCP instances, e.g. in the sameboat network, not necessarily under my control . Feature sets currently in motion to next stable baselines in STG:

those starred being in part provided by deep DCP integration. However DCMS is just MCP not DCP dependent and can operate entirely without DCP as required for the SaaS. STG hosts the commons, the locus of public workout for domain space services. With the exception of app end-user support spaces, unlike the geonodes, commons is developer oriented.


Budding is the creation of a new MCP, prior to which one MCP may be in germinal form within another, initially the case for IRC, BUF, and ORD before they bud out of STG.

sameboat local directories (sbld)

CLFE names a front end to the classifieds function in DCMS, the default anchor feature of the network of clusters, and the local directory (LD) major function. Outside of the three core MCPss, each geonode cluster aggregates the subdistricts of some geographic region in a LD. The STG MCP hosts the adaptation of the classifieds feature to the non geo groups ¹. Downstream MCPs may be either managed or diverged. Managed MCPs are under DCP control and are updated by it. Diverged MCP operators are responsible for updates from the repos in the core. The managed geonodes form a distinct subnetwork with superficial similarities to craigslist and facebook. SBLD is differentiated from craigslist and other local directory networks by:

  • Live commons that makes the rich linux culture available to the masses rather than a flat electronic classifieds/directory.
  • Integral with the group mechanism supporting specific affinity/interest groups.
  • Groups are user defined and maintained from a common base.
  • Topology and node type. Transnational regions rather than cities or national units.
  • Extensible small factors app.

While the sameboat network is more like twitter and craigslist in having substantial exposed anonymous public content than walled in like facebook, it is still like all of domain space oriented to serve the AKPERSON groups.
